Electrocon Consumer Electronics (I) Ltd as known today, was established as a proprietorship firm in the year 1997 by the name “Electrocon Enterprises” and its primary business activity was erection, commissioning and maintenance of industrial power electronics control panels.

In the year 2000, this proprietorship firm was appointed as a distributor of Tatafone for western suburbs of Mumbai and it also established a well-equipped telecom service center. When Tatafone ceased its operations in the year 2001, most of the distributors went out of business. Seeing the vacuum in the market and with an intent to support these distributors, our founder got in touch with Tatafone’s OEM partner Gaoxinqi Electronics Ltd. in China, who had leftover stock and agreed to supply under our Brand “Etel”.

Subsequently this proprietorship firm was registered as “Electrocon Consumer Electronics (I) Ltd.” (a closely held Limited company) in the year 2003 and started manufacturing telephone instruments in India under its brand names “Etel” and “Inditel” under collaboration with Gaoxinqi Electronics Ltd, China.

It established 3 factories in Daman, Parwanoo and Hyderabad and increased the product range with several models of landline phones, caller ID phones, cordless phones, fixed cellular terminals and coin operated Payphones. Our company established the distribution network all across India and within 1 year our brands “Etel” and “Inditel” were well recognized, competing with then market leaders like Godrej, Beetel and Panasonic.

Between 2003 to 2008 our company executed many prestigious projects like 5000 VOIP phones to Tata Consultancy Services, 8000 CID phones to HFCL, 6000 FCT to Idea mobile, 5000 GSM Payphones to Vodafone (then Hutch) and many more. Ours’ was the first company to launch GSM Payphones in India and executed innovative projects like installing the GSM payphones on BEST buses in Mumbai through Hutch.

After the launch of very low tariff mobile phone by Reliance communication (Karlo-Duniya-Mutthi-Mein scheme), the demand for landline phones, cordless phones, PCOs and FCTs almost became NIL and our company had to bear huge losses, thus shutting down its factories and curtailing its operations.

Our company reorganized its business activates in the year 2008 and started focusing on electronic surveillance and security products like CCTV system, Metal Detector, Biometric/Access Control System, Video Door Phone, GSM Modem etc, and positioned itself as a leading system integrator.

During last couple of years we have handled sensative projects in building automation and system integration, to name a few; Reserve Bank of India, Central Warehousing Corporation, Central Railways, Mahavitaran, Mahagenco (MSEB), Defence Cantonment Boards, Police Departments, TMT bus depots, Municipal Corporations, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), ONGC, Indian Railways and several private establishments.

Thus we have positioned ourselves as a leading technology solutions provider in the field of building automation, EV charging and smart city turnkey projects.
